Tetuzi Akiyama & Jozef van Wissem - Hymn for a Fallen Angel
Minimal classical contemporary folk blues played by Japanese rising improv star guitarist Tetuzi Akiyama and Dutch lute player/composer Jozef van Wissem. Their second CD as a duo. 'The music is gradual and contemplative, unfolding like an unhurried chess game, edging forward in a shared yet adaptable and accommodating language. Courtly arpeggios, blues slurs and other pointers beyond the frame don't disrupt the Feldmanesque autonomy of their continually mutating, freely patterned flow.'-The Wire, UK.

Current 93 - Black Ships Ate The Sky
The new album from Current 93 with Steven Stapleton, Marc Almond, Bonnie ”Prince“ Billie, Antony and Cosey Fanni Tutti collaborating with David Tibet. It has been six long and silent years since Current 93 issued a proper full length album. Though a steady stream of reissues and small concepts albums have attempted to fill the obvious vacuum created in Current 93’s absence many committed neofolk fans have felt the lack of chilling, cryptic, apocalyptic visions. This absence has now been answered with a new proper full length album titled “Black Ships Ate The Sky.

Directing Hand - Bells for augustin lesage
The kind of music this is is Ecsatic improvisation. It is the debut from Glasgow's Directing Hand, led by free-drummer Alex Neilson. Alex created Directing Hand as his ""solo"" vehicle, but its no surprise that so many important underground musicians joined in, as well. Featured on this CD are current and former members of Charalambides, Scatter, Belle and Sebastian, One Ensemble of Daniel Padden and Scottish psych-folk darlings Lucky Luke.

Henry Flynt - Ascent to the Sun
Volume 4 is the final release in the New American Ethnic Music series (but not the last Henry Flynt on Recorded) is Ascent to the Sun, a brilliant, sparkling hillbilly raga in the family of You Are My Everloving but with a unique double violin approach and a mind-bending structure all its own. The piece covers incredible ground in terms of specificity of mood and sentiment, and is deeply listenable and experimental at once.

Henry Flynt - Hillbilly Tape Music
Third volume in the New Americam Ethnic Music series, following: You Are My Everlovin' & Spindizzy. Breathtaking stuff and essential for all followers of the Tony Conrad/post-minimalism timeline.

Henry Flynt - Back Porch Hillbilly Blues Vol.1
Henry Flynt's 60s jaded art scene take on the hillbilly music and rural field recordings of earlier decades -- Volume 1 of his Back Porch Hillbilly Blues -- a tripped out, wild approach to deep Americana! What's so refreshing about Flynt's work in this idiom, other than the loose, weirdly riveting soundscapes, is his honesty. Many a 60s scenester tried their damnedest to feign credibility in the sound and style of the country folks found in Harry Smith's justifiably revered field recordings -- but Flynt is either wise enough or just plain bold enough take their influences and elements of those old recordings and make his own improvisational noise with it. Volume 1 has foot stomps, feverishly sawed fiddle, some occasional twangy vocals, rough acoustic guitars, and touches of 60s acoustic psychedelia. Two shorter tunes, "The Snake" and "Sky Turned Red" kick out off, while the longer, hypnotic "Acoustic Hillbilly Jive" and "Highway And Tyme" -- 12+ and 15+ minutes respectively -- close it out.
