Debut LP of the psych noise power drone project of Ernesto Gonzalez, an 18 year old Venezuelan kid who moved to Belgium with his family three years ago. Thick layers of Hototogisu-like guitar drones interfere with endless tape loops and warm washes of analogue jungle color tone to work up to an overwhelming fuzz guitar climax, leaving listeners helpless, ecstatic, puzzled and bemused.

Birthed through an intricate process of prank phone calls and clairvoyant documentation, The Adventures of Ghosthorse & Stillborn follows CocoRosie and their crew of miscreants through the Mechanical Forest of Feelings. This album is a departure from the obscured blur of stained glass rve to a more self-exploitive memoir. Parts are dreamy and parts are savage, but, as with an opera where death represents a secret heaven, the whole record feels like a black diamond in the snow.

Experimentalist Henry Flynt and collaborator CC Hennix roll out as the Dharma Warriors -- a duo set with Flynt on guitar and Hennix on drums -- a raw, cosmic rock & roll set from the unpredictible Flynt -- recorded in Woodstock in 1983! The Dharma Warriors project was billed as "celestial rockabilly" by Flynt, but don't come into it expecting an astral Hasil Adkins, or something like it. No vocals, but a trippy traipse through ragged bluesy rock guitar, odd changes, fuzzy chording, free form solos and clattering drums. 2 long tracks: "Warriors Of The Dharma" running north of 10 minutes, and the 20+ minute Mount Fuji On My Mind".

Flynt’s music can’t help but echo and forecast other music. Yes, you can hear American folk/hillbilly/blues music of the early 20th century feeding through Flynt’s song-writing. "I Don’t Wanna" sends another of Flynt’s archival tapes out to the boho record bin. Recorded in 1966, after Flynt took guitar lessons from Lou Reed (which makes for great mind’s-eye melodrama: “No, Henry, “Prominent Men” goes like this...”), this is Flynt’s most direct protest music. And although four members appear on the recording, it’s really the interplay between Flynt’s nervous-twitch guitar playing, like a blues player stoked up on amphetamines and electricity - um, like Lou Reed, really - and artist Walter deMaria’s feverish drumming that makes the record.
