Beautiful little publication showing Geesin's multi talents. His black & white drawings in a book with even some pop-up sections, and a CD with 13 new songs. In songwriting he has the humour of his father Ron and the sensitive, slightly melancholic approach of Robert Wyatt.

The Scottish artist David Shrigley published an LP-sized book called Worried Noodles in 2005, a quirky collection of whimsy song lyrics and pictures. This year, he has re-released this book accompanied by a two-disc compilation of 39 artists from the hipper side of indie-rock who have set his words to music. Highlights in the first disc com from David Byrne, Yacht, Psapp and Grizzly Bear. Disc two kicks off with Dirty Projectors and Deerhoof offshoot The Curtains and has another highpoint with Max Tundra's version of 'A Truce'. Mt. Eerie's 'Sentimental Song' is a little gem.

In 1970 Polydor Records funded an unusual experiment. They gave some unknown German musicians a retreat in the countryside near Hamburg, equipped it with a studio and their best engineer, then left them free to do as they liked. This is the story of Faust and the music they made between 1970 and 1975, music which continues to inspire and confound listeners to this day. Along the way, Andy Wilson recounts the rise of Krautrock and its connection with the social upheavals of the late '60s and early '70s. He also discusses the role of time in music, takes a swing at Frank Zappa and looks in detail at the records Faust made in their heroic years. Andy Wilson lives in Hackney, London. He has been listening to Faust for the best part of a lifetime.
