Collaboration between writer Konrad Bayer and multi-artist Gerhard Rühm, who both participated in the art movement called Wiener Gruppe. Rühm was one of the most radical members of this group, who made it his aim to bring literature to the same direct level of experience as visual art or music. Bayer was also a great experimentalist, interested in dark romanticism and surrealism, and in montage/recombining texts. This is concrete / sound poetry with instruments like piano and harpsichord, and voices from Rühm and Inga Artmann-Weber.

Scored for multiple guitars and percussion, the symphony is divided into five movements and features Z'ev, a unique percussionist whose banging instruments strangely complement the music. Symphony No. 2 is highly dramatic and never ceases to impress upon the listener that Branca is serious about what he is doing.

The elder statesman of literature's Beat Generation -- and, by extension, of the American underground culture, few figures outside of the musical sphere exerted a greater influence over rock and roll than novelist William S. Burroughs. Officially re-released, one of the absolute classics, back in print at last. Extraordinary cut-up voices recorded during the mid-60's in hotel rooms in New York, Paris, London...It's impossible not to recognise the writer's voice, the sonority of this voice, a sonority also present in the silence of every text he wrote. An explosion of styles -- a blasting of borders -- the silence after a gunshot -- the overtaking of the fetishized word -- from the exploded painting to the cut tape.

"One11" (1992) was composer John Cage's only full-length film, assisted here by Henning Lohner. It is legendary in Cage-circles, and fans have been demanding this for some time now. Also includes "The Making of One11", Henning Lohner's documentary on the making of the film, originally aired on German television. On this DVD it's coupled with "103" (1991) for orchestra played by the WDR Symphony Orchestra conducted by Arturo Tamayo.

The latest works by legendary poet and musician HENRI CHOPIN, a key figure of the French avant-garde during the second half of the 20th century, especially the 1950s through the 1970s. Known primarily as a concrete and sound-poetry pioneer, he has also worked as graphic artist and designer, typographer, independent publisher, filmmaker, broadcaster and arts promoter; his use of early tape recorders and studio technologies, and the sounds of the manipulated human voice—with their focus on the relationship of balance between order and chaos—serves as a reminder that language stems as much from oral traditions as from classic literature.

These tapes are related to Corner's 'Piano Destruction' projects, and documented the sounds of two pianos in the process of decomposition by students of a school in Harlem, New York, in 1966.
