Art Bears - Hopes and Fears
Hopes and Fears began as a Henry Cow album, but after the first recording sessions in Switzerland, some of the members of the band were unhappy about the predominance of song-oriented material. As a compromise it was agreed that two albums would be made: the songs would be released under the name of a new group, Art Bears, and the instrumental compositions would be released later by Henry Cow. The newly formed Art Bears recorded four more tracks in London to complete Hopes and Fears, which was released in May 1978. With Fred Frith, Chris Cutler and Dagmar Krause.

Art Zoyd - Symphonie pour le Jour où Brûleront les Cités
This is a re-release on Sub-Rosa on CD (with 7 extra bonus tracks) of the first Art Zoyd LP and was as impressive as could be for a first album, and earned the band an immediate cult following. All the ingredients of Art Zoyd's sound for its first decade are here: unusual acoustic instrumentation for a rock band (violin, cello, piano, and trumpet, plus guitar, bass, and percussion), dark and mysterious atmospheres recalling France's Magma and foretelling Univers Zero (formed by Art Zoyd percussionist Daniel Denis), and complex pieces owing as much to contemporary classical as to progressive rock.

Label: Sub Rosa / SR330
Medium: CD
Electronic Rock , Chamber Music , '70s , Jazz-Rock , Music
Price: € 15.00

Autistic Daughters - Uneasy Flowers
"Uneasy Flowers" is the second album by Autistic Daughters, the intercontinental trio of Dean Roberts (guitar, vocals), Martin Brandlmayr (percussion, computer) and Werner Dafeldecker (guitar, bass). It is also the fourth in a series of records in which Roberts, having begun in more abstract territory in New Zealand's mid-1990s 'free noise' ferment, has embraced song, lyric and voice as vessels for topographic and psychoanalytic tracings of the impacts of territory and nomadism on the subject.

Blevin Blectum - Gular Flutter
Gular Flutter, Blectum's first album in four years, is as indebted to her veterinary studies as it is to her collaboration with Blechdom. The title refers to a part of a bird's throat (ornithology is Blectum's area of specialization), but it's easy to locate animal metaphors all over. Every song has its flutters and tics. Blectum shaves beats so razor thin that they lose their bass-ness and become another light, feathery wafer to stack and arrange. She's clinical in her song-making: Every sound, from fuzzy poofs of static to 8-bit bleeps to the reversed violin (Blectum is classically trained), gets examined under her microscope.
